Overcoming Obstacles

Nick Vujicic is no stranger when it comes to facing life’s difficulties.  In his best selling book, “Life Without Limits,” he shares the intimate account of his personal struggle with overcoming obstacles.  And it was not an easy task.  Many would view them as insurmountable.  For you see, Nick was born without arms or legs.

However, limitations have not hindered this unique man from traveling all over the world and sharing his inspiring, true story, with people who are looking for hope and eager to listen.  Audiences are captivated by Nick’s outgoing personality and optimistic attitude.  They appreciate his transparency and vibrant example of what true faith in God looks like, regardless of obstacles.  But, in spite of all the admiration he receives, Nick would be the first to admit his life didn’t always look this way.

Being the firstborn son of a Christian couple living in Australia was a blessing, although his birth presented a real challenge for his shocked and confused parents.  Not only they but everyone who knew them wondered why God would let this happen.  Rejection, low self-esteem,  depression, and despair are only a small sample of the emotional obstacles Nick would experience while growing up.  In addition to these, he faced the daily obstacles of living with impaired physical challenges.  But God had a purpose and that’s what makes his testimony so important.

Transformation

God transformed this angry, hopeless young man into a man of faith.  A man who once felt he had no reason to live,  now has a zest for life.  How did this happen?  By believing in a loving, almighty God.  Nick came to understand, by faith, that God is good and sovereign over everything that happens.  Therefore, obstacles became opportunities instead of setbacks.  He realized by faith that trials are intended to produce positive, eternal results…

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. 

And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
~ Romans 5:1-5 ~

Overcoming Obstacles and Finding Hope

In a day and age where the spirit of anti-Christ is dominating cultural thought and attitudes, it’s refreshing to know there is still hope –

..through faith to all who believe; for there is no distinction; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus.  ~ Romans 3:22-24 

 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.  ~ Hebrews 11: 5 ~

Do you know Him?

Things might have turned out differently for Nick.  Perhaps he would have committed suicide.  Perhaps he would have been aborted.   Life is a gift from God, even though some might have thought it would have been better if he had not been born.  But who are we to judge one’s quality of life?   Thankfully, God had other plans and has shown Nick His divine power in overcoming obstacles.
